in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today’s White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.

We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners – honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works – and what does not.

the citizens in this state will capitulate.
they are not worthy to have a constitution.

the citizens in the red states will not capitulate.the red states are not concerned about tomorrows dollar.those citizens treasure the constitution.

Hang on, Kimosabe… aren’t these the very same states that tried to secede from the Union back in 1860? Maybe we should let these
states go their own way? After all, we’re paying for their bennies…good riddance to bad rubbish.

Naome, like all other liberals you don’t know the history.

Where do we start, Indiana, Nebraska, Missouri, Montana, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, North and South Dakota, Kentucky, West Virginia, Wyoming, Kansas, Arizona, Alaska, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nevada, are all traditionally Red States. A few went Blue the last 2 elections cycles, but they’re very conservative states. Then you can add Ohio which went for Reagan twice, Bush 43 in 88, Bush 44 in 2000 and 2004. Not one of these states seceded from the Union.

Perhaps I don’t predict the past as well as elder statesmen such as yourself, John. What I can see is a less vibrant GOP that is resting on it’s presumptions while the demographics shift beneath… I anticipate challenges to the Electoral college apportioning methods when “traditionally” Red states
      become something else entirely.

It’s long past time to revamp the Presidential race to include outside voices that offer something other than the
GOP/DNC duopoly – they’re run by the same owners.

If you want independents to take the Tea Party seriously,
drop the rhetoric about your “inalienable rights” and focus on what’s good for the Country.

Laying concertina wire around schools and arming the hall monitors isn’t good for the Country.

Getting a grip, that might help.

You do know that these same states are seeing a rapid demographic shift to something else, entirely?

What you’re advocating is minority rule, which isn’t democratic. It’s particularly galling to have the states which consume more Federal support than they provide steering the bus.

Last time that was permitted, we ended up in the ditch.
