Greedy Fat Cat Republican Incumbents Without Opponents Siphon Money Away From Those Who Need It!

It’s been brought to my attention that some Republicans on Beacon Hill  with no opponent this year are holding big-dollar fundraisers. Some have been in office years if not decades.

Folks, I understand that elected officials need to maintain a campaign fund. And so they even have fundraisers in off years. Fine let them hold fundraisers in 2013. But in an election year, where some of their fellow Republicans incumbents are facing serious challenges and Republican challengers are facing an uphill battle, having a fundraiser is simply wrong.

There is only so much spare money out there in people’s pockets. Republican candidates with opponents need the money. They don’t need this unwarranted competition from people that are getting a free ride this year.

So please, before you make your donations, make sure your money is going to Republicans who have opponents to face.

And if these strictly self-interested Republican politicos insist on sucking the oxygen out of the room by competing for the few dollars available in this Obama exacerbated recession, we’ll just have to see that in 2014 they get Republican challenger in the primary. And if they don’t think we can do it, I would remind them what of what grassroots base did in the State Committee races!!

        1. haole

          very informative !

if you check the democratic majority leader’s ocpf report you will see double the spending.he too has no opponent.

          1. RINO-HUNTER

Jones committee is only 1/2 year spending….
            Jet Blue
            Parties
            a non-election year
            <11% (magic Republican Number)
            spent MassGOP and candidate donations
the remainder Mr. Jones spent on himself
and will suck more money out of the area
            I should post Tarrs numbers….

  2. The only people I’m talking about at this point are Republican incumbents that have no opponent whatsoever.

And this is a shot across the bow. So there will be no names at this point. Sufficient to say, it applies to all Republican Incumbents that have no opponent. Even they hold leadership posts in their caucus! They shouldn’t be sucking the oxygen out of the room this year.

As to your other point, some may have stronger challengers than others. But for the purpose of warning the average voter who might not be politically sophisticated, a good rule of thumb is to give to Republican Incumbents who have opponents and obviously to the Republicans challengers.

    1. James DuPont

John, I have to ask a few questions of you.

      1) How many times have you run for public office?
      2) How many times have you been elected to public office?
      3) How many times have you contributed money to a candidate?
      4) How many campaigns have you volunteered time to?

Let me be clear, blaming Candidate A’s inability to raise funds on the succesful fund raising of another candidate of the same party in a different district is sheer, utter hogwash. If a candidate can’t raise money, I’d recommend a tried and true political device called the mirror for answers.

Incumbents without opposition of all parties raise money in order to a) evaluate their own viability and b) send a message to would be challengers, and c) have a well stocked arsenal when the would-be challenger becomes an actual opponent.

Maybe Amerca should stop defense spending until we have an actual declared war then, start fresh and see if we are equal to the battle readiness of our opponents.

John, you are clearly an empty wind bag trying to attach yourself to some thing much bigger than you are which is, by the way, called political reality.

      1. RINO-HUNTER

You obviously know nothing about the guy.
I suggest you go back to supporting the morons who give us 11%.

  3. John DiMascio

    James,
No is blaming any candidates inability to raise money on anyone else.
And I made it perfectly clear that candidates need to raise money in off years. As I said, let them do it on off years.

My point is that this year we are in a middle of a recession and there is only so much money to go around. And when we look at how these campaign funds get used as slush funds, it is entirely unnecessary for incumbents who have no opponent to be competing the little money that’s out there.

I’ve been volunteering for campaign since the age of 8. I’ve managed campaigns and gotten people elected. I’ve run campaigns against ballot issues, raised money and spent my own money to defeat municipal tax increases and defeated them.

If you add up the hours I’ve given to conservative causes it would add up to years.

I’m perfectly aware that having a substantial war-chest often times prevents people from running against you. I understand the strategy Jim.

But the MA-GOP is well known for providing little if any support for down ticket candidates. The high profile races suck the oxygen out of the room. As result we control a whopping 10% of
the State Senate and 20% of the lower House on Beacon Hill.
Not to mention that the party elite have driven our numbers down to 11% with their let’s be fiscal conservative Moonbats strategy.
Not to mention the latest outrage with the delegates and provisional ballots.

It’s perfectly legitimate to advise people to give their money to candidates who face an opponent. The only one spewing hot air here is you.
